In 2007, when Gossip Girl hit our screens for the very first time, no one thought everyone would be talking about it at some point or another, especially 14 years after the pilot episode aired. The reboot of the show just dropped on July 8th, and it's safe to say that we’re taking notes of the beauty looks from the show. We know that our famous favourite Upper East Siders loved a good beauty moment (remember Blair’s legendary headbands?), and if the first few episodes of this season are any indication, we’re going to be served plenty of inspiration. From “no make-up” make-up to fluffy brows, here’s how to recreate four looks from the show. You know you’ll love them….
Play with black eyeliner
The queen of Constance Billiard, Julien Calloway is also an influencer, and so, we naturally see her exploring some Tik Tok-inspired trends. From black feline eyeliner to thick, tight-lined eyes, there is a version of eye make-up that works for both maximalists and minimalists.
Metallic shadows for the win
Julien and Zoya Lott (the new girl) are both seen wearing chunky silver eyeshadow and swipes of gold on their lids. The result? A low-maintenance chic look that you can put together in less than two minutes, no precision needed.
Headbands are out and scarves are in
Gone are Blair Waldorf’s iconic headbands, but the show does seem to pay homage to them with Zoya’s colourful scarf ‘do. To recreate the look, take a square scarf and join the opposite ends so you have a triangle. Roll this up and tie a knot in the centre. Place the scarf on the centre of your head and knot it at the nape. Secure with bobby pins, and you’re done!
Shaggy bangs are the new lob
Choppy fringes are to the reboot what Serena Van Der Woodsen’s beachy waves were to the last season. We love one-length hair, but we’d be lying if we said that Audrey Hope’s choppy, layered bangs in the show didn’t tempt us to get a haircut.
