Designer Stella McCartney has debuted her most sustainable collection to date with her Autumn 2021 collection, Our Time Has Come. The collection includes a range of athleisure wear, casual denim pieces as well as dressier pieces in bright hues and neutrals. Also a part of the collection was the designer’s iconic Falabella bags, as well as boots, sneakers and other accessories.
The collection has been made using ethically and sustainably sourced materials like eco–friendly viscose, organic cotton, recyclable aluminium, as well as recycled materials like Econyl and recycled polyester sourced from post-consumer waste.
The collection, which is 80 per cent environmentally friendly, was unveiled with a video that sees models styled in pieces from the Autumn 2021 line wearing oversized animal masks in a city set up. The campaign film, with a narration by British comedian David Walliams, presents a fantasy about what it would be like to have animals living freely among humans, conveying a message of equality and empathy towards animals.
With the new collection, Stella McCartney has partnered with Humane Society International to help raise awareness for their campaign against unnecessary fur trade. In a statement, designer Stella McCartney said, “While this campaign is light-hearted, I wanted to address a serious issue: ending the use of fur. Whether it is being sold here in the United Kingdom or farmed globally, barbarism knows no borders and this effort is key to my life’s mission of bringing a conscience to the fashion industry.”
